“The mind is its own place.” Milton
We perceive external stimuli, and recognize what they are, based on experiences in the past. Then, we make a decision to move into action for future, and execute it. What kind of neural information processing mechanisms support these series of mental states to move into action? We focus on cerebral cortex that is responsible for higher functions of brains such as recognition, consideration, attention, and consciousness, and analyze neural activities in a certain mental state from various aspects, in order to understand this mental state comprehensively. We proceed to this goal as a team by combining various research procedures and by newly developing our original methods.
